In training for the move to Sydney

13 Jun 2008

Lately I have been gearing up for the big shift to Sydney, which is planned for late AUG/early SEP. I have been getting material together for my DVD reel to approach Sydney production companies with. Enso Studios have done a wonderful job with the DVD design/Author. The Postlounge have been oh so helpful with cutting my two montages (GO P2!) and getting materials exported for the disc. Old mate Chris Boyd from Audioscape is giving the disc the 5.1 treatment and has composed some great Menu music tracks. It's all coming together!!!
I am also planning a redesign the homepage of my site using the artwork from the DVD.

The CARNIES qpix/pftc short film shoot went really well and I am looking forward to the final grade at the Postlounge!!! Thanks Martha, Kristin & Desi!

I have also been ploughing through the Flesh & Metal music video edit with Kurt (Thanks Mate!!!) and look forward to posting it online.

Snob Scrilla's THERE YOU GO AGAIN is #4 on Channel V's Urban 6 countdown!!!
I am working on his next clip for Mr Officer.

my latest work can be viewed on Vimeo at: www.vimeo.com/janreichle/

There You Go Again with Snob Scrilla

02 Apr 2008

I have just completed work on a music video for Sydney artist Snob Scrilla (www.myspace.com/snobscrilla) aka MC Sean Ray.

The shoot on March 7 & 8 involved a day of performance with band and a day cruising around Sydney on a tracking vehicle. I was once again reunited with old friend and producer Ray Waterhouse on this job and invited Brad to come down from Brisbane to assist me. The Sydney crew, many of whom I worked with for the first time were all amazing. The post-production experience was also especially gratifying, as each person involved felt some ownership in the project and put in the extra time and efforts to get it done. Great work on the cut by Kurt, the grade, composite plus online with James and of course the animations by P2. Thanks so much guys!!!
The video shall hit the airwaves shortly. It is actually also the opening title music to the NRL Footy Show. In the meanwhile check out the Quicktime at:

My 2008 and beyond

15 Jan 2008

I have returned from a month in the Philippines, ready and rearing to get back into it.

The end of 2007 marked a busy period; shooting aerial plates of the future Eclipse building site in Broadbeach (FloodSlicer), shooting 2nd Unit aerials on Waterwise TVCs (Redsuit), operating on Eagle Boys TVCs (Mojo) and steadicam/operating for John Stokes ACS on Dreamworld TVCs (McCann Erickson). I also directed a spot for E Toll featuring a lifesaver perched on the Gateway Motorway Tollbooth gantry being covered with a 40' jib, which involved closing down two lanes of traffic for four hours. Thanks to Chuck, Chelsea, Ian & Andy at Mojo for making the job such a pleasurable experience.

Bye bye Roly Poly. The advent of the new year also marks the end of my representation by Roly Poly Pictures. Thank you so much Ronnie, Zippy, Suzelback & Al Pal for your support, guidance & belief. I shall always cherish my year with you guys! We'll work together again, it's just a matter of time.

At the moment I am living the freelancer's life and am revamping my reel, with which I shall do the rounds in BNE, MELB, SYD & even Hong Kong, where I shall spend the month of March. I also am still to cut my music video for Flesh & Metal, sorry TNE boys.

Takoyaki City is complete and goes to air on MTV, January 28 @ 10PM EDST, so check ot out, yo! Thanks to Zenon & Vicki for including me during the post process and also to Jan for the wicked grade.

more news on its way as it unfolds...

Flesh, Metal & Octopus Balls

06 Sep 2007

Been a while since the last post and I have been up to Port Douglas two more times and down to Melbourne three times. The EPK is going well, we even got to shoot the charming Mr Tom Hanks and I got to play war cameraman on bootcamp/war games with the actors from the Pacific.

The trips to Melbourne have been to spend time with The New Electric, the best band in town. I traveled down for their EP launch and this past Sunday had the pleasure of shooting/directing their clip for the single Flesh & Metal. Always a treat to work with such a great and handsome bunch of guys. Thanks to all of the fantastic and professional crew, who worked on the music video. www.myspace.com/thenewelectric

Next week we commence the two week shoot for Takoyaki City, an MTV telemovie that we are shooting on the new P2 format. Extremely excited and looking forward to the new post.
